New-to-me tunes (and a movie reference)

I went with a lifeline for Think Kit Day 9:

What band (new or old) did you discover this year? How'd you discover them? What one song piqued your interest?

PENTATONIX CAROL OF THE BELLS LA DAH-DAH-DAH PLAY IT AGAIN PLAY IT AGAIN MERRY CHRISTMAS MERRY MERRY --

Ahem.

Some time ago, probably near the beginning of the year, one of my Facebook pals posted this video from Pentatonix:

I watched the video, loved the song, and promptly forgot about them until another friend posted the video a few days ago. When I went to play the video, I instantly remembered the group, primarily because of the faces the black guy makes while he sings. SO MUCH AWESOME.

I pasted the video from YouTube and got chills. That's how much I like this song. Also, it's about 60 degrees in my apartment. Minor point.

I have basically no idea who Pentatonix is, besides five really talented singers. (They apparently won a recent season of The Sing-Off, whatever that is.) I know they're on tour and going to be in Indy next February. End biography.

I looked up the band on Spotify and discovered several albums, including two full of pop covers and one album of Christmas music. I generally have not been a Christmas music person, except for cheesy staples like Mariah's All I Want for Christmas and Wham's (Wham!'s?) Last Christmas. (SAY 'CHRISTMAS' AGAIN.) It's not that I'm not a fan of holiday music. I just like to wait until December to hear it, and that's not always possible when stores start putting out Christmas (ding!) merch in October.

Anyhoo, I'm enjoying the crap out of listening to them.
